ποΈ Mohini Ekadashi Vrat Katha
Once upon a time, in the kingdom of Indraprastha, there lived a noble and devout king named Yudhishthira. He was known for his righteousness and devotion to Lord Vishnu.
One day, as the auspicious day of Mohini Ekadashi approached, the king decided to observe a fast in honor of the Ekadashi. He gathered his family and ministers and began the Vrat Katha, which was narrated by the sage Veda Vyasa.
The sage said, “Long ago, there lived a king named Vaikhanasa, who ruled over the kingdom of Mahismati. He was a great devotee of Lord Vishnu and observed all the Ekadashi fasts with utmost devotion. One day, while on a hunting expedition, the king lost his way and found himself in a dense forest. As night fell, he sought refuge in a hermitage, where he met a sage named Medhavi. The sage welcomed the king and offered him food and shelter.
During their conversation, the sage asked the king about the purpose of his visit. The king then explained that he had lost his way and was in search of a way back to his kingdom. The sage advised the king to observe the fast of Mohini Ekadashi and seek Lord Vishnu’s blessings for guidance.
Following the sage’s advice, King Vaikhanasa observed the fast with devotion and prayed to Lord Vishnu for help. Pleased with the king’s devotion, Lord Vishnu appeared before him and guided him back to his kingdom safely.
Upon returning to his kingdom, King Vaikhanasa thanked the sage and vowed to observe the fast of Mohini Ekadashi every year. From that day on, the king and his subjects observed the fast with great devotion and received blessings from Lord Vishnu.
Having heard the Vrat Katha, King Yudhishthira and his family observed the fast of Mohini Ekadashi with utmost devotion and performed puja to Lord Vishnu. They prayed for blessings and guidance in their lives.
As a result of their sincere devotion, Lord Vishnu bestowed his blessings upon them and ensured their prosperity and well-being. From that day on, the people of Indraprastha continued to observe the fast of Mohini Ekadashi with unwavering faith and devotion.
And so, the significance of Mohini Ekadashi and the power of devotion to Lord Vishnu were upheld by the noble king and his kingdom for generations to come.
