Mokshada Ekadashi is a sacred Hindu fasting day observed on December 20, 2026. Devotees worship Lord Vishnu with prayers, fasting, and rituals. Observing this vrat is believed to bring spiritual upliftment, purification, and divine blessings. The vrat katha of Mokshada Ekadashi highlights the spiritual importance of this Ekadashi. It is believed that observing this vrat brings prosperity, forgiveness, and spiritual growth.
ποΈ Mokshada Ekadashi Vrat Katha
Once upon a time, in the city of Varanasi, there lived a devout Brahmin named Sumedh. He was a firm believer in Lord Vishnu and observed all the Ekadashi fasts with great dedication. He was known for his piety and generosity towards others.
One day, as Mokshada Ekadashi approached, Sumedh decided to observe the fast with even more fervor. He woke up early in the morning, took a bath in the holy Ganges river, and began his day with prayers and meditation. Throughout the day, he abstained from consuming any food or water, and spent his time in deep contemplation of Lord Vishnu.
As evening approached, Sumedh went to the Vishnu temple to offer his prayers. He lit incense and lamps, and placed fresh flowers at the feet of the deity. He prayed for the well-being of his family, and for the blessings of Lord Vishnu.
As he sat in front of the idol, he heard a faint voice. “Oh devotee, I am pleased with your devotion and dedication. Ask for a boon, and it shall be granted to you.”
Sumedh was overjoyed and humbly asked for the ultimate liberation, Moksha, for himself and his ancestors. The divine voice assured him that his wish would be granted.
The next morning, Sumedh broke his fast and felt a sense of peace and contentment like never before. As years went by, he continued to lead a righteous life, helping others and spreading the teachings of Lord Vishnu.
When the time came, Sumedh left his mortal body and attained Moksha, the ultimate liberation from the cycle of birth and death.
From that day on, Mokshada Ekadashi became a revered day for fasting and seeking spiritual enlightenment. It is believed that observing this fast with devotion and sincerity can lead one towards the path of Moksha.
May we all learn from the story of Sumedh and strive to attain spiritual liberation on this auspicious day of Mokshada Ekadashi.
