It is believed that observing this vrat brings prosperity, forgiveness, and spiritual growth.
๐๏ธ Saphala Ekadashi Vrat Katha
Once there lived a pious king named Mahidhwaja who ruled over the kingdom of Shurashtra. He was known for his devotion to Lord Vishnu and his dedication to observing fasts (vrat) on Ekadashi. His queen, Queen Vashudha, was equally devoted to the Lord and was known for her charitable acts and kindness towards her subjects.
One day, as the auspicious day of Saphala Ekadashi approached, Queen Vashudha approached her husband and expressed her desire to observe the fast with utmost devotion. The king, who was equally devoted to the Lord, agreed and together they began their preparations for the fast.
On the day of Saphala Ekadashi, the royal couple woke up before sunrise, took a holy bath, and began their fast. They spent the entire day chanting the name of Lord Vishnu, reading sacred scriptures, and performing acts of charity. They refrained from consuming any food or water throughout the day, dedicating their thoughts and actions to the Lord.
As the day turned into night, they continued their prayers and meditation, seeking the blessings of the Lord. The next day, on Dwadashi, they broke their fast after offering their prayers to the Lord.
Their devotion and dedication to the fast of Saphala Ekadashi pleased Lord Vishnu, who appeared before them and blessed them with prosperity, happiness, and good health. The king and queen were overjoyed to receive the Lord’s blessings and continued to observe the fast of Saphala Ekadashi with great devotion every year.
From that day onwards, the kingdom of Shurashtra prospered, and the people lived in peace and harmony under the rule of King Mahidhwaja and Queen Vashudha.
The Saphala Ekadashi vrat katha teaches us the importance of devotion, faith, and perseverance in seeking the blessings of the Lord. It reminds us that observing fasts with a pure heart and mind can lead to the fulfillment of our desires and the attainment of spiritual enlightenment. May we all be inspired by the story of King Mahidhwaja and Queen Vashudha to observe the fast of Saphala Ekadashi with utmost devotion and dedication. Jai Shri Krishna!
