Once upon a time, in the celestial abode of Lord Vishnu, there lived a devoted and pious king named Mandhata. He was known for his righteousness and his unwavering devotion to Lord Vishnu. However, despite his devotion, he was plagued by misfortunes and was unable to find peace and prosperity in his kingdom.

Distressed by his troubles, King Mandhata sought the advice of the sages and learned that observing the Vrat of Devshayani Ekadashi would bring him the blessings of Lord Vishnu and alleviate his suffering. Eager to seek the Lord’s grace, the king diligently observed the Vrat of Devshayani Ekadashi with utmost devotion and sincerity.

On the day of Devshayani Ekadashi, the king fasted and spent the entire day in prayer and meditation, seeking the blessings of Lord Vishnu. He listened to the sacred stories and hymns dedicated to the Lord and performed various rituals to honor Him. As the day turned into night, the king broke his fast and offered his prayers to Lord Vishnu with a pure heart.

Pleased by King Mandhata’s unwavering devotion and dedication, Lord Vishnu appeared before him and bestowed upon him his blessings. The Lord promised to rid the kingdom of all its troubles and bring peace and prosperity to the land. From that day onwards, King Mandhata’s kingdom flourished, and he ruled with righteousness and prosperity.
