  • Prep Time- 10–15 minutes.

Ingredients:

  • Full-fat milk – 2 litres
  • Mishri (rock sugar crystals) – 2–3 tbsp
  • Ice-cold water – 2 cups
  • Tulsi leaves (optional, for offering)

  • Step 1- Boil and Cool the Milk 

Boil the milk and cool to room temperature.Refrigerate overnight to let the cream settle on the top.

  • Step 2- Take off the Cream 

Next morning, carefully take off the cream from the surface of the milk and place it in a separate bowl.

  • Step 3- Churn the Cream 

Add cold water to the cream. Churn it in a circular motion using a wooden churner or hand blender.  The butter will separate from the buttermilk after 10-15 minutes.

  • Step 4 – Collect the Butter

Collect the chunks of white butter and rinse them under cold water to reduce the extra buttermilk.

  • Step 5: Add Mishri

Add 2-3 teaspoons of crumbled mishri to the fresh makhan. Add 2-3 tulsi leaves before presenting it to the deity.
