Panchak has started in the month of Sawan on Sunday, July 13, and will continue till July 17. This means that the first Monday of Sawan (July 14) also falls during Panchak.
Although Panchak doesn’t affect worship directly, some precautions should be taken to avoid any spiritual mistakes. Astrologer Radhakant Vats shared how Lord Shiva should be worshipped on this special day.
How to Worship Lord Shiva During Panchak on Sawan’s First Monday:
According to scriptures, on the first Monday of Sawan:
- Wake up early, take a bath, and wear clean clothes.
- Because of Panchak, mix a little turmeric in your bathwater. Turmeric is believed to remove negative effects and purify the body.
- Meditate on Lord Shiva and make a resolution (sankalp) to worship him sincerely.
- Perform Jalabhishek (offering water) on the Shivling at home or in a temple.
- As per Shiv Purana, offering water to Shivling during Panchak is especially beneficial.
After Jalabhishek:
- Offer Belpatra, Dhatura, flowers, sandalwood, etc. while chanting Lord Shiva’s mantra: ‘Om Namah Shivaya’.
- Then offer Bhog (food offering) and perform Aarti of Lord Shiva.
Usually, this is the regular method of worship, but since this day falls during Panchak, it is advised to donate all the items used in the worship (flowers, Belpatra, Bhog, etc.) afterward.
This helps avoid any negative effects of Panchak and makes the worship more fruitful. Donation also brings peace, prosperity, and good fortune.
